privatization.

Chicago was fabulous. I love my friends, and we had a great time.

In other news, a predicament has arisen.

Two of the PhD programs to which I've applied want a list of my "public social media" accounts. You see apparently when schools only have 7 spots available they run checks similar to that of a private detective. Probably an exaggeration.

For the time being I am taking Misadventures private. After a phone call with one of the admins at a school on Friday, I learned private blogs do not have to be reported.

You see. Even though I probably could get away with not reporting this blog since I don't use my name, I don't think that is the right thing to do. If they found out, I have a feeling any offers of acceptance would be immediately revoked.

I don't think an admissions committee needs to know about my shoe obsession or encounters with weird people in checkout lines.

So.

Hopefully you all understand. I don't know if I will be extending invites. I may just make the blog private and take a break for a few months.

Thanks for always being there for me and being so wonderful. This has been a really hard decision, and I am sad to have to do it. However, getting into grad school is important, so I have to do what is necessary.

I still plan on reading and keeping on top of all of your lives :)

The blog will officially go private sometime on Thursday.

baby, do you remember when fireworks at Lake Michigan?

I am leaving for Chicago shortly!

I went to college in the Midwest [duh], and Chicago is really the only big city, so a lot of my friends found themselves there. They either live there or just about an hour outside of where we went to school.

I am so excited for this trip! One of my besties is getting married to her college sweetheart, and I am over the moon happy for them. I can't wait for her wedding, because she is such an artistic person. She did her own invitations, and they were stunning.

My pledge class is super duper close. There are only 14 of us, so it is so easy to talk almost daily which we all do thanks to massively long email conversations. We see each other about 3 times a year. Those times we do see each other are a blast, and we usually revert to our college ways quickly. Often resulting in a week of me saying "why do I think I can still drink act like I am 21?

Only two of us don't live in the Midwest right now. I live in ATL, and another girl lives in the DC area. The rest are all spread out between Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.

I won't be blogging again until Tuesday. I'm not taking my laptop, because I plan to have ZERO free time this weekend. The bonus of this trip is that some of my family lives in Chicago, and they will be taking me and my little out to dinner on Sunday. It will be nice to see them as well.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I plan on dancing the weekend away!

I confess.

I am not a huge fan of Starbucks. I think I've said this more than once. Generally I think it is overpriced and overrated.

However. There is one major except to this rule.

The gingerbread latte.

From November until January when the gingerbread latte comes to a sad end, I will consume almost one a week.

I got my first one on Tuesday after Twitter exploded with talk of Starbucks. It was my gentle reminder my favorite coffee season is here.

Of course, it was 70 degrees in Atlanta therefore defeating the need for a hot drink, but thankfully my office manager seems to think our workspace must be kept at a cool -431 degrees. So, it was like being outside somewhere cold...but with a computer and a conference call....and without the mittens.

Um...yes...do we need to wear turtlenecks when it is 70 outside, because you insist that freezing us at work is okay?

I am actually glad to see the holiday drinks this year...
